Tips to help keep your
system running at optimal performance.
.
1) Changing Air filters is important
because they capture a number of unwanted contaminants in the air such as
bacteria, dust, pollen and even smoke. The filter is critical to the quality of
air in your home. If your filter is not properly functioning or it is too small
or dirty, the performance level of your air conditioning system will be
considerably reduce
**Some of the problems that may result from an
improperly maintained air filter include:
1. Increased blower power consumption
2. Reduced cooling or heating
3. Compressor failure
4. Higher heating and cooling costs.
2) Size of Filter
2) The size of the filter is another
critical factor associated with the performance of both your filter and your
air conditioning system as a whole. Generally, your air conditioner should have
1½ square feet of filter for each ton of capacity. One square foot is the
absolute minimum requirement in order for your filter to remain effective.
1. Change or clean the furnace filter
once a month, especially throughout the summer months when dust and allergens
are constantly circulating in the air.
2. Vacuum registers and air vents on
a regular basis.
3. Have your ductwork cleaned by a
professional every 3- 5 years. A service we can provide for you!
3) Duct Cleaning
Heating, Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC)
system hygiene is an important component of maintaining indoor air quality, but
one that is often neglected. Over time, bacteria, mold, pollen, pet hair,
dander, dust, tobacco smoke and other contaminants can accumulate inside the
duct work and furnace housing and on the blower motor and fins. A dirty HVAC
system can also be an ideal breeding ground for bacteria or mold if excessive
humidity or moisture is present. If the AC coils are dirty, condensation that
forms during the operation of the air conditioner provides the needed moisture
for growth of the mold or bacteria. With vents in every room of the home, the
HVAC system is an efficient distribution system of allergenic compounds. Think
of the HVAC system and duct work in a home as the “lungs” of a building and
you’ll understand the importance of a well maintained system.

Also you must be certified to do duct
cleanings with the state of Florida. If you don't choose Jim Percy's AC and
Heating insure, who you choose is licensed.
